Almost every private rental listing in Canada has the same three problems. The price grows once you are interested. A deposit gets asked for that is not legal to ask for. And nobody has checked who is posting.
FellowFlats is built so none of those can happen. Mandatory monthly charges live inside the advertised figure rather than being disclosed later, deposit-shaped fees are blocked outright, and listings come from accounts we have verified. That holds whether you are renting a whole apartment, a private room, or a single bed in a shared one.
The by-the-bed part is the piece nobody else does. A landlord can split a room into individual beds, each booked separately and each locked on approval - so you pay for yours and are never on the hook for a roommate's share, or for filling the room.
